Rascal Does Not Dream of Santa Claus anime has revealed new character visuals featuring slightly older versions of Rio, Kaede, Tomoe and Nodoka. The anime previously introduced mini-skirt Santa, revealing her own visual along with Mai and Sakuta’s.
Studio CloverWorks is again animating, with the new TV anime entering the University Arc. It’s set to premiere in 2025. The new visuals feature updated character designs, and you can check them out below.
Rascal Does Not Dream of Santa Claus Updated Character Designs
The updated designs feature the following characters and their introductions:
- Kaede Azusagawa
- Rio Futaba
- Tomoe Koga
- Nodoka Tomoyama

Kaede Azusagawa (CV: Yurika Kubo): Sakuta’s younger sister. She is currently attending an online school and has started working part-time at the same family restaurant as Sakuta.
Rio Futaba (CV: Atsumi Tanezaki): One of Sakuta’s friends from high school, who is currently a science major at a university and works part-time as a teacher at a cram school.
Tomoe Koga (CV: Nao Toyama): A third-year student at Minegahara High School. She also works part-time at the same family restaurant as Sakuta and has recently become close with Kaede.
Nodoka Toyohama (CV: Maya Uchida): Mai’s half-sister and a member of the idol group “Sweet Bullet.” She currently attends the same university as Sakuta and Mai.
About Rascal Does Not Dream of Santa Claus Anime
Studio CloverWorks is again animating, with the new TV anime entering the University Arc. It is only the second TV series for the franchise, following Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai.

The story takes place in the 14th volume of the novel, which Yen Press describes:

With clues from his friends’ prophetic dreams, he gets closer to figuring out exactly what danger awaits Mai, but he’ll have to sort through the fake Kirishimas and determine who’s the real deal before it’s too late…
About Rascal Does Not Dream Series
The Rascal Does Not Dream light novel series was written by Hajime Kamoshida, while Keji Mizoguchi drew the illustrations for it. ASCII Media Works began publishing it under their Dengeki Bunko imprint in April 2014, releasing a total of 15 volumes. The final volume was released on October 10, marking the end of the novel after 10 years of serialization.

The entire anime adaptation so far has been animated by CloverWorks. It includes the Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai TV anime (covering volumes 1-5), as well as three sequel movies. They are Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dreaming Girl (volumes 6-7), Rascal Does Not Dream of a Sister Venturing Out (Volume 8), and Rascal Does Not Dream of a Knapsack Kid (Volume 9).
There is also a manga adaptation by Tsugumi Nanamiya, which is also published by ASCII Media Works in their Dengeki G’s Comic magazine. Yen Press licensed both the manga and novel in English.
The special AoButa Exhibition is also set to conclude in April-May, revealing an illustration of Mai and Sakuta for the finale.
