The upcoming A Mangaka’s Weirdly Wonderful Workplace anime revealed a new visual and trailer featuring the main cast on Thursday alongside an October 2025 premiere.
Kaoru Suzuki (My Roommate is a Cat) is directing the series at studio Voil (Tomo-chan Is a Girl!). Mio Inoue (My Awkward Senpai) is in charge of the series composition while Kana Miyai (The Apothecary Diaries) is on character designs. Kei Haneoka (Kaguya-sama: Love is War) and Hironori Doi (Umineko – When They Cry) are composing the music. The main cast includes:
- Yuko Natsuyoshi as Nana Futami
- Sora Amamiya as Kaede Satou
- Miku Ito as Mizuki Hazama
The anime is based on a manga series written and illustrated by Kuzushiro. It was initially published as a one-shot in Kodansha’s Kiss josei manga magazine in February 2019, while its serialization started on Kodansha’s Comic Days manga website in May 2019. The manga currently has 11 volumes available.
The anime’s official website describes the story as follows:
Futami is a rookie shojo manga artist. With the help of her cool editor and reliable assistant, she’s been able to start publishing her dream shogi manga, “Subaru e.” However, Struggling with stomachaches, looming deadlines, and storyboard blocks, she finds herself stuck at her desk, indulging in late-night snacks and spiraling into wild delusions. Will she be able to smile and enjoy the life of a manga artist?!
