Skip and Loafer revealed a new ‘rainy season’ visual featuring Mitsumi’s 2 friends, Makoto Kurume and Yuzuki Murashige. The illustration was drawn by the anime’s character designer Manami Umeshita, who was recently confirmed to be returning for Season 2. Kotomi Deai will also be back to direct at P.A. Works.
The new visual teases the rainy season, saying “On days like these, why not embrace your inner child and try making a teru teru bozu (a little weather charm)?”
Studio P.A. Works animated the Skip and Loafer anime adaptation, with direction by Kotomi Deai. Manami Umeshita handled the character design, with Takatsugu Wakabayashi in charge of the music composition. The anime was one of the biggest trends of Spring 2023, running for 12 episodes from April to June. The main voice cast includes:
- Tomoyo Kurosawa as Mitsumi Iwakura
- Akinori Egoshi as Sosuke Shima
- Maaya Uchida as Yuzuki Marashige
- Yuka Terasaki as Mika Egashira
- Megumi Han as Makoto Kurume

- Hikaru Tanaka as Mukai Tsukasa
- Ayumu Murase as Kento Yamada
Misaki Takamatsu writes and draws the Skip and Loafer manga, which has been serialized in Kodansha’s Afternoon magazine since 2018. Seven Seas Entertainment licensed the manga in English, while Crunchyroll is streaming the anime. The story follows the country girl Mitsumi, as she joins a prestigious school in Tokyo and gets struck with the city life. She meets the handsome but aloof Sosuke, and she slowly gets used to the new life while building a relationship with him and her classmates.
