The highly anticipated The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity anime will remain anticipated for many viewers globally, including those in the United States, the United Kingdom, Brazil, Colombia, France, and other non-Asian territories: Netflix’s metadata lists a surprising release date of September 7, 2025—despite subscribers in Asia receiving the series beginning on July 6 in Japan.

UPDATE: The Netflix Colombia Instagram account posts that The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity will premiere on July 13. The Netflix Latinoamérica account omits the series from its July anime titles.

The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity was a notable absentee from the Netflix Anime’s July 2025 promotional video, which included DAN DA DAN Season 2, SAKAMOTO DAYS: Season 1 Part 2, Leviathan, The Summer Hikaru Died, and My Melody & Kuromi. The series was voted Anime Corner’s most anticipated new Summer 2025 anime by a landslide, with nearly double the vote share of second-place The Summer Hikaru Died, which is also a Netflix-exclusive.

Fans had suspected a delayed release, with Netflix only stating “Coming 2025” in the visual and trailer release, despite clear dates in Asia. The lack of communication, on top of the already expected delay, has prompted backlash online. This follows Netflix’s prior history of staggered releases, seen with Pokémon, Blue Box, and Sakamoto Days.

Miyuki ‌Kuroki directs The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity at studio CloverWorks. She’s joined by assistant director Satoshi Yamaguchi, Haruka Tsuzuki (series episode director), Rino Yamazaki (series composition), Kohei Tokuoka (character design and chief animation director), and Moeki Harada (music composition). The cast is below:

  • Honoka Inoue as Kaoruko Waguri
  • Yoshinori Nakayama as Rintaro Tsumugi
  • Kikunosuke Toya as Shohei Usami
  • Koki Uchiyama as Saku Natsusawa
  • Hiiro Ishibashi as Ayato Yorita

The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity is listed for a September 7 premiere on Netflix in the United States and other territories outside of Asia. The series adapts Saka Mikami’s manga of the same name, published in Kodansha’s Magazine Pocket. Netflix describes the anime:
When the intimidating Rintaro meets the open-minded Kaoruko, the unlikely duo grows closer. The issue? Their neighboring high schools hate each other.
