It’s been a successful year for Cygames Inc. In the past seven months, the company has launched the global version of its highly acclaimed Uma Musume: Pretty Derby game, released a ranking-topping anime, sponsored races at the 151st Kentucky Derby, and even brought an exhibit to the famed Kentucky Horse Park. Now, the entertainment giant has become the main sponsor of the Grand Prix de Paris. This year’s race will be officially named the Cygames Grand Prix de Paris, reflecting the partnership between Cygames and France Galop.
The races will take place at the prestigious Hippodrome de Longchamp (Longchamp Racecourse) in the Bois de Boulogne, Paris. It’s scheduled for July 13, 2025.
Grand Prix de Paris Deets
Established in 1863 by the Société d’Encouragement, the Grand Prix de Paris is the second-largest horse race in France. While the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe has surpassed the Grand Prix de Paris in prominence, it is still one of Europe’s most prestigious races.
A G1, 2400-meter flat horse race, the event caters to 3-year-old thoroughbred colts and fillies. Two other Cygames-sponsored races are scheduled to take place that day, the Handicap de la Fete Nationale and the Prix de Malleret. Cygames branding will be included in everything from the race programs to the starting gates.
The smallest of the races, the Cygames Handicap de la Fete Nationale will consist of a 2000-meter turf race catering to geldings, mares, and stallions aged four and over. It’s scheduled to be the first race of the day and has a cumulative payout of €59,000 (~ $68,915).
The Cygames Prix de Malleret is a 2,400-meter turf race for 3-year-old fillies, with a total purse of €119,000 (approximately $139,000). The Cygames Grand Prix de Paris, a 2400-meter turf race featuring 3-year-old colts and fillies, will be the main draw of the day and features an eye-watering €600,000 (~ $700,853) prize.
Cygames has yet to announce whether they will have an Uma Musume: Pretty Derby booth at the event.
