The Mexico-based anime streaming company Anime Onegai has announced ther plans to shut down their app and website on October 31, 2025. The announcement came via a website release and a communication email sent out to subscribers.
The English translation of the official release reads:
“It is with great regret that we inform you that, due to force majeure, we will permanently and definitively cease operations as of October 31, 2025. This decision has been carefully considered and is irrevocable: there are no plans to reactivate the business.
What does this mean for you?
- Site Availability: As of October 30, 2025, animeonegai.com will cease operations, and new transactions and subscriptions will no longer be accepted.
- Multimedia content will no longer be available.
- Personal Data: Your personal data will continue to be processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable law. The data will be permanently deleted from our database.

We understand that this news may cause inconvenience. We appreciate the trust and support you have shown us over the years. We sincerely regret any inconvenience this closure may cause.
Anime Onegai History
Based in Mexico and servicing most of Latin America, Anime Onegai launched in 2020. The company aimed to offer high-quality anime content with Spanish subtitles and dubbing, available for free or through an affordable subscription. The monthly subscription fee ranged 40 MXN and 60 MXN (approximately $2 to $3 USD). Annual subscriptions were also available for 550 MXN and 600 MXN (about $30 to $33 USD).
Before OceanVeil launched, Anime Onegai was the only legal streaming service that offered hentai and erotica titles. The closure now leaves Crunchyroll as the sole anime-centric streaming service available in Latin America. Anime Onegai had previously announced the September 30th closure for it’s 24/7 free channel.
