Haikyu Final 2-part movie revealed a new teaser visual and trailer along with a 2027 premiere date for its second part titled Haikyu the Movie: VS The Little Giant. Production I.G. was previously confirmed as the animation studio, with Susumu Mitsunaka in charge of the direction and script. The movie will cover the match between Karasuno and Kamomedai. Interestingly, the official website removed the “Final” wording from the branding, suggesting that there may be something beyond the project.
Haruichi Furudate is the creator of the Haikyu manga (stylized as Haikyu!!), which was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from 2012 to 2020. Production I.G was in charge of animating both the movie and the TV anime. The first season aired in 2014, followed by the second one which started in Fall 2015 and finished in Winter 2016. Season 3 ran for 10 episodes in Fall 2016, covering Karasuno vs Shiratorizawa match. Season 4 was titled Haikyuu!! To the Top, and it ran for 25 episodes over two cours – Winter 2020 and Fall 2020. In addition to the TV anime and recent movie, the franchise also has multiple recap movies, OVAs, side stories, stage plays and games.
The first movie, HAIKYU: The Dumpster Battle, began streaming on Netflix and Crunchyroll on October 31, 2024. You can also read our review. In addition to the second movie, a special anime covering another quarterfinal match (Fukurodani vs Mujinazaka) was also announced.
