Captain Tsubasa 2: World Fighters New Game Brings Soccer Action Back Later in 2026

Bandai Namco Entertainment has announced CAPTAIN TSUBASA 2: WORLD FIGHTERS, marking the franchise’s first new game in over six years. Developed by Tamsoft, the title is set to launch later in 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.

Described as the largest entry in the series to date, WORLD FIGHTERS 2 expands its scope with 22 national teams, more than 110 playable characters, and over 150 unique special moves. Matches lean fully into the exaggerated style the franchise is known for, transforming standard soccer actions like dribbling, passing, tackling, and shooting into over-the-top “Super Action Soccer” sequences.

Players will once again be able to create an original character and step into the world alongside Tsubasa Ozora, building rivalries, forming friendships, and competing on the international stage. Gameplay systems have been reworked to emphasize momentum and spectacle, with chained superhuman plays designed to create dramatic, anime-style moments throughout each match.

One notable change comes on the defensive end. Goalkeeping now features a head-to-head mechanic between shooter and keeper, turning shots on goal into direct confrontations where timing and decision-making can swing the outcome. The system allows both sides to counter powerful shots and blocks with their own signature techniques.

Music is handled by Tadayoshi Makino, returning from the previous Captain Tsubasa game, with more than 80 new background tracks confirmed for the sequel.

An announcement trailer showcasing the game’s Super Action Soccer is now available, and additional details are expected to be shared closer to release.
