Pokémon revealed its Generation 10 games and starters during this year’s Pokémon Day, presented during the Pokémon Presents livestream on February 27, 2026. The games are titled Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves and will release exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027. The announcements come as the franchise celebrates its 30th anniversary today.

The 2026 Pokémon Presents also included several additional announcements alongside Generation 10. Pokémon Champions was revealed as a new battle-focused title releasing on Nintendo Switch in April 2026 and on smartphones in Summer 2026. The game supports connectivity with Pokémon HOME, allowing players to use previously caught Pokémon in competitive battles.
Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness will be added to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack’s Nintendo GameCube library in March 2026. The title will be playable on Nintendo Switch 2 and will support the GameCube controller.
A new Pokémon theme park-style game, Pokémon Pokopia was also announced for Nintendo Switch 2, scheduled for release on March 5, 2026. The game allows players to explore a Pokémon park environment with interactive areas including towns, caves, hot springs, and resort locations while encountering Pokémon directly.

Four years have passed since the reveal of Scarlet and Violet. On February 27, 2022, during the Pokémon Presents livestream, Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet were officially unveiled as the mainline Generation IX titles. The reveal introduced the Paldea region, confirmed an open-world RPG structure for Nintendo Switch, and debuted the starter Pokémon Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly. The games launched later that year on November 18, 2022.
Pokémon (short for Pocket Monsters) is a globally popular multimedia franchise created by Satoshi Tajiri and developed by Game Freak, with Nintendo and The Pokémon Company managing its operations. Since its debut in 1996 with Pokémon Red and Green (released internationally as Red and Blue) for the Game Boy, the franchise has grown into one of the highest-grossing entertainment franchises in the world.
The franchise now spans across most available media, including video games, anime, trading card game (TCG), movies, and merchandise. WIT Studio also animated a 4-episode special anime in 2023.
