Akatsuki Games has launched Round 3 of the Half Anniversary campaign for Kaiju No. 8 THE GAME, introducing Main Story Chapter 9: CLOZER Suits, a new 5-Star unit [New Possibilities] Soshiro Hoshina, and several in-game campaigns including login bonuses, a mini-event, and a paid guaranteed gacha.
The update continues the game’s ongoing story following the battle in the frozen parallel world. Chapter 9 marks a narrative turning point as research into the parallel-world King of Kaiju leads to the development of CLOZER suits powered by dimensional energy. We recently interviewed the game’s Promotion Producer about how the title has evolved in response to player behavior, live-service realities, and the philosophy behind positioning the game as a “parallel canon” within the world of Kaiju No. 8.
According to the official description of Main Story Chapter 9: CLOZER Suits, the story begins after peace returns to Dubai:
“Peace has been restored to Dubai. A cry of triumph echoes through Suited’s lab.
‘Massive discovery! There’s actually a logical explanation for the King of Kaiju’s powers!’
Suited eagerly explains her findings to Kafka and the others who rush over. Her findings regarding the latent power of Dimensional Identified Kaiju No. 6 will lead to new equipment for fighting Dimensional Kaiju…
At the same time, Dimensional Kaiju seeking the uniorgan of the defeated No. 6 are closing in on Dubai. To defeat the intruders who stand in the way of her research, Suited takes up her weapon and rises to the fight!”
New Character: ★5 [New Possibilities] Soshiro Hoshina
The update introduces a new playable unit, 5-Star [New Possibilities] Soshiro Hoshina. In this version of the character, Hoshina acts as a test wearer for the newly developed CLOZER suit created by Suited.
The update also adds a new 5-Star 5 weapon, SW-Ihcatiamak, designed for Twin Swords users.
A pickup trailer showcasing the character has also been released.
Mini Special Event: The Prized Shuriken Technique
A limited mini-event titled The Prized Shuriken Technique is also available. The event features short story content and quests where players can earn rewards including:
- A new Home background featured in the event story
- Over 1,000 Dimensional Crystals
- Additional in-game materials
The developers note that this event has a shorter duration compared to standard Special Events.
Half Anniversary Login Bonuses and Gacha
As with previous rounds, Round 3 also includes several campaign rewards as part of the Half Anniversary celebration.
Players who log in during the campaign period can receive Dimensional Crystals and up to 10 Pickup Gacha Tickets. The Chapter 9 release celebration login bonus also includes additional items such as THE GAME Gacha Tickets and Stamina Jellies.
A Paid-Only 5-Star Guaranteed Gacha [Slash] is also available during this round. The banner guarantees at least one 5-Star Slash-type character and can be used once per account before disappearing.
The update serves as the final phase of the game’s Half Anniversary celebration.
Kaiju No. 8 THE GAME is a free-to-play title with in-app purchases available on iOS, Android, and Steam. The game supports multiple languages including English, Japanese, Korean, and Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), with French recently added. More information is available at kj8-thegame.com.
Kaiju No. 8 Background
The game is based on Kaiju No. 8, a manga by Naoya Matsumoto that was serialized on Shonen Jump+ from July 2020 to July 2025. As of September 2025, the series has surpassed 19 million copies in circulation across 16 volumes.
The anime adaptation aired its first season from April to June 2024, followed by a theatrical compilation in March 2025 and a second season that ran through September 2025. A ‘final chapter’ anime adaptation is also in production.
