Kaiju No. 8 THE GAME has launched a new story update, Main Story Chapter 12: “X-OVER,” introducing a new playable version of Gen Narumi. The update focuses on the preparation for a global operation against humanity’s greatest threat, Dimensional Identified Kaiju A. The anime previously added Soshiro Hoshina’s older brother Soichiro into the game as a playable character.

According to the newly released chapter, CLOZER suggests a large-scale expedition that would bring together defense forces from around the world in New York. However, the plan faces an unexpected obstacle when First Division Captain Gen Narumi refuses to participate, insisting that he must remain in Japan.
As Rin Shinonome and the rest of the First Division attempt to compensate for the loss of their strongest fighter, scientist Suited introduces a potential solution in the form of the experimental X-OVER Suit.
Alongside the story update, the game has added a new playable character, 5-Star [Sky-Piercing Bolt] Gen Narumi. The new version of Narumi appears wearing a custom-built CLOZER suit calibrated specifically for him. He uses D-Numbers Weapon 1, a contact lens-type device that amplifies the electrical signals within his body, allowing him to channel and discharge that energy through his gauntlet during combat.
The update also introduces Narumi’s new 5-Star weapon, GS-Aremihc (Gunsword).
To celebrate the release of Chapter 12, players can participate in a limited-time New Chapter Event where they can earn up to 1,500 Dimensional Crystals.

Kaiju No. 8 Background
The game is based on Kaiju No. 8, a manga by Naoya Matsumoto that was serialized on Shonen Jump+ from July 2020 to July 2025. As of September 2025, the series has surpassed 19 million copies in circulation across 16 volumes.
The anime adaptation aired its first season from April to June 2024, followed by a theatrical compilation in March 2025 and a second season that ran through September 2025. A ‘final chapter’ anime adaptation is also in production, as well as an original short anime Narumi’s Week at Work.
