Animezing North Brings Kaiju No. 8 to Life This August

Written by Carla Carreon

The Anti-Kaiju Defense Force is reporting a massive breach in Quezon City, and this time, fans are invited straight into the action. In partnership with Medialink, SM North EDSA officially unleashes Animezing North: Kaiju No. 8, running from August 25 to September 9, 2026, at The Annex Atrium.

Marking the anime’s first official activation in the Philippines, the event transforms The Annex Atrium into a full-scale Defense Force tactical hub. Fans can suit up, step into the world of Kafka Hibino and the 3rd Division, and experience a series of immersive, interactive zones and life-sized character photo spots designed to make them feel like part of the squad.

In addition to the interactive attractions, visitors can gear up with exclusive, officially licensed merchandise from top featured brands, including Geek PH and National Book Store. Admission is free to the public. Suit up and suit live at your most-loved mall in the north and be part of this supersized fandom. You can also check out our Animezing North: Kaiju No. 8 gallery from the launch event.

SM Supermalls is a chain of shopping malls in the Philippines and is one of Southeast Asia’s largest mall developers and operators, with 90 malls in the Philippines and 9 in China. It is described as the country’s most loved mall and an everyday destination designed around the lifestyles, passions, and needs of Filipino communities, delivering new finds, fresh concepts, and meaningful experiences.

One of its most popular projects is Animezing North, SM North EDSA’s umbrella initiative for official anime activations, where globally celebrated anime titles — including ONE PIECEPokémonDAN DA DAN, and JUJUTSU KAISEN— come to life through curated exhibits, interactive attractions, exclusive merchandise, and themed experiences at The Block Atrium. The project was recognized with a Bronze Stevie® Award for Innovation in Cultural or Community Events at the 2026 Asia-Pacific Stevie Awards held in Macau last April, honoring its innovative approach to anime fan engagement while driving strong mall foot traffic and sales.
