The upcoming The Detective Is Already Dead Season 2 anime unveiled its first key visual and trailer on Sunday. The sequel was originally set to premiere this July but was delayed to October due to production circumstances.
Studio ENGI returns to animate the sequel with Manabu Kurihara as director. Other returning staff include Deko Akao as scriptwriter and Yosuke Ito as the character designer. The main cast will also reprise their roles:
- Saki Miyashita as Siesta
- Ayana Taketatsu as Nagisa Natsunagi
- Kanon Tako as Yui Saikawa
- Saho Shirasu as Charlotte Arisaka Anderson
- Arata Nagai as Kimihiko Kimizuka
The Detective is Already Dead is a light novel series written by Nigozyu, with illustrations by Umibozu. Media Factory started publishing the series in November 2019. The series also has 2 manga adaptations: one by Mugiko (2020-2023) and one by Poni (2021-2022).
Yen Press licensed the light novel series in English. Crunchyroll streams the anime, describing the story:
After thwarting a hijacking with beautiful, silver-haired detective Siesta, Kimihiko leads a life of globe-trotting and crime-solving—until Siesta dies. A year later, a new case will open old wounds as it threads murder, conspiracy, and his dead partner!
