The Tanuki to Kitsune series was featured as a central highlight at the Frontier Works booth during AnimeJapan 2026, as the franchise marks its 10th anniversary and prepares for its upcoming TV anime adaptation.
According to details from the event, the manga by Atamoto has surpassed 1.3 million copies in circulation, with the anime currently scheduled to premiere in October 2026. The booth presentation focused on introducing the series to the audience through interactive displays and themed attractions.
At AnimeJapan, the exhibit was built around a “play together” concept aimed at both children and adults. Visitors were able to explore multiple photo spots and installations, including a fox tail-themed attraction, floral art displays, and decorative boards inspired by the series’ visual style . Additional activities included a social media campaign and giveaway program, where attendees could receive themed fortune slips and merchandise.
The series also made its first appearance at Family Anime Festa, where activities were more tailored toward younger audiences. These included a coloring corner and character photo areas, along with live mascot-style appearances of Tanuki and Kitsune during photo sessions.
Alongside the event showcase, a broader 10th anniversary project is currently underway. This includes new illustrations by creator Atamoto and new updates related to the upcoming anime adaptation, coming soon.
