Clover Press and Aspen Comics have announced The DC Art of Michael Turner, a new deluxe hardcover art book celebrating the late artist’s acclaimed work in the DC Universe. The Kickstarter campaign is now live.

As part of the announcement, Anime Corner has the opportunity to exclusively share pages from one of the book’s portfolio collections featuring Turner’s artwork of the Justice League and The Flash.

The upcoming release marks the third entry in Clover Press’ The DC Art Of… series, following The DC Art of Jorge Jimenez in 2025 and The DC Art of Bruno Redondo earlier this year. The oversized 9″ x 12″ hardcover will collect more than 200 pages of Turner’s DC artwork, including his interpretations of Batman, Superman, Supergirl, Wonder Woman, The Flash, the Justice League, and other iconic heroes.

Exclusive Portfolio Preview

Anime Corner can exclusively reveal artwork from the book’s Justice League and Flash portfolio collection, showcasing Turner’s distinctive style that helped define many of DC’s most recognizable characters during the 2000s.

Several additional portfolio sets spotlighting Wonder Woman, Superman, and Batman are also available as part of the campaign.

According to Clover Press and Aspen Comics, the hardcover aims to serve as the most comprehensive collection of Michael Turner’s DC artwork assembled to date. Alongside popular covers and promotional illustrations, the volume will include rarely seen pieces and previously unpublished material.

The book will also feature an introduction from former DC Chief Creative Officer and Ghost Machine editor-in-chief Geoff Johns, along with contributions from longtime collaborators and industry figures including Jeph Loeb, Brad Meltzer, and Dan DiDio.

The Kickstarter campaign offers several exclusive items unavailable through the standard edition, including:

  • A Kickstarter-exclusive slipcase and dust jacket
  • The DC Art of Michael Turner Ashcan
  • A special black-and-white sketchbook edition
  • Exclusive art prints and portfolio sets
  • Additional collector-focused rewards

Turner first rose to prominence at Top Cow Productions in the 1990s, where he co-created Witchblade before launching the bestselling creator-owned series Fathom in 1998. He later founded Aspen MLT and continued producing creator-owned works including Soulfire.

His work at DC became particularly influential through Superman/Batman, where his artwork played a major role in reintroducing Supergirl to a new generation of readers. Turner also became widely known for his cover illustrations featuring Superman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Batman, and the Justice League.

Turner passed away in 2008 at the age of 37 following complications related to treatment for bone cancer, but his artwork remains among the most recognizable and influential styles in modern comics.

In a statement accompanying the announcement, Aspen Comics president Frank Mastromauro described the project as the most extensive collection of Turner’s DC artwork assembled so far, while Clover Press publisher Hank Kanalz noted that Turner’s work brought a unique energy to every DC project he touched.

The DC Art of Michael Turner launched through Kickstarter, with the campaign offering both the standard hardcover edition and numerous exclusive editions and extras.
