Kadokawa’s Monthly Dragon Age announced that Homura Kawamoto, the writer behind Kakegurui: Compulsive Gambler, would be writing a new manga called Isekai Tenseisha Koroshi – Cheat Slayer. Kawamoto’s upcoming manga series is a revenge story with themes of hate and desire.
The series will focus on a character who kills people who have reincarnated from another world, a subversion of the isekai genre. Moreover, Kawamoto will be collaborating alongside Aki Yamaguchi, who will provide art for the upcoming project.

The Writer Behind Kakegurui And The Artist Behind Die Dol
Homura Kawamoto is the writer responsible for Rengoku Deadroll and his most famous work: Kakegurui: Compulsive Gambler. The latter is an ongoing manga that focuses on Yumeko Jabami, a female student who attends the Hyakkaou Private Academy. Yumeko’s thirst for gambling threatens the gambling hierarchy of the academy.
In addition, popular manga has received various adaptations, ranging from an anime adaptation by Studio MAPPA to theatrical films and dramas. The Kakegurui anime was released back in 2017, which received a positive reception amongst audiences; As of February 2021, Kakegurui has 14 tankōbon volumes and sold over five million printed copies. What’s more, the series’s theatrical film will be receiving a sequel, slated for May 12, 2021.
Aki Yamaguchi is a reasonably new mangaka who is responsible for the artworks behind the manga Die Dol. Additionally, the mangaka’s works focus on romance and drama, which might serve Yamaguchi’s upcoming collaboration with Kawamoto.
The Potential Of The Manga
Because Isekai Tenseisha Koroshi – Cheat Slayer appears to be a subversion of the genre, the possibilities of what it could become remain to be seen. However, since the Kakegurui manga is relatively popular thanks to the writer emphasizing the cast’s personalities, the new series might share those characteristics.
Yamaguchi’s art style is clean, emphasizing drawing the emotions judging from the promotional key art displayed for the series. Not only that, but combined with the writing of Kawamoto and the series could be a manga that readers should consider reading.
