The official website for The Rising of the Shield Hero has unexpectedly announced that the 2nd season will be delayed. The sequel is supposed to premiere this October 2020, but instead it got delayed to April 2022. They also said in a statement that the delay is caused by “various reasons,” and didn’t give any further information regarding about the delay.

The first season premiered on January 9, 2019, and ended on June 26 of the same year. Additionally, the first season got 25 episodes and 24 minutes each. Also, Kinema Citrus Studio is the one who handled the animation for the first season and will be returning for the second season too.

After their battle with Glass, Naofumi and the other heroes have a meeting with the queen, and Naofumi is shocked to learn about the seven-star heroes. Still reeling from this revelation, more drama unfolds on the islands before Naofumi and his party can return to Melromarc. A massive monster bearing the appearance of a giant tortoise must be defeated. The monster is so powerful that even the mightiest adventurers cannot defeat him so what hope is there for Naofumi?
The Rising of the Shield Hero is a Japanese dark fantasy isekai light novel series written by Aneko Yusagi. It follows the main character Naofumi as he gets transferred to another world and forms a party after a rough and horrible experience. Besides him, there are 3 other “heroes,” but things get very complicated.
