Slam Dunk Movie to Open in Fall of 2022

Slam Dunk movie is coming in the Fall of 2022, the official website for the movie revealed today. A teaser PV that features the names of the staff who worked on the project was also revealed.

In the promotional video, you can see the members of the Shohoku High School Basketball Club forming a circle while wearing their uniforms. As we previously mentioned, the staff credits are visible in the video. Takehiko Inoue, the original creator, will be directing and writing the script for the film. Toei Animation, a studio that worked on the original series, is also animating the movie.

Slam Dunk is a sports comedy manga from the Weekly Shounen Jump. It started publishing on September 18, 1990 and ended on June 4, 1996. It had a total of 31 volumes and 276 chapters. The manga won the 40th Shogakukan Manga Award for best shounen manga in 1994. The anime adaptation by Toei Animation premiered on October 1, 1993, and had a total of 101 episodes. In addition to the main anime series, the franchise also spawned 4 movies.

Winning isn’t everything in the game of basketball, but who wants to come in second? It takes dedication and discipline to be the best, and the Shohoku High hoops team wants to be just that. They have one last year to make their captain’s dream of reaching the finals come true—will they do it? Hanamichi Sakuragi’s got no game with girls—none at all!
