KENN, Shinichiro Miki Among Seiyuu Positive for COVID-19

Seiyuu KENN and Shinichiro Miki revealed that they are positive for COVID-19. Yuko Sanpei and Shouya Chiba also tested positive. Previously, the STARDUST talent company revealed that Makoto Nonomura is positive, and the voice actor is currently in the hospital.

KENN (Ronald Knox from Black Butler) was in close contact with someone positive. His agency canceled IDOLiSH7 Anniversary Stream on August 17th, after revealing that he also was positive for coronavirus. Shinichiro Miki (Roy Mustang from FMAB) currently doesn’t have any symptoms, while Yuko Sanpei (Boruto voice actor) had a fever and is currently in treatment. Seiyuu Shouya Chiba (Shin from 86: Eighty-Six) had a mild fever, and took the COVID-19 test, which came back positive, his agency announced. He is currently recovering at home.

Makoto Nonomura had some complications. He is being treated for pulmonary fibrosis (also known as lung hardening), a build-up of scar tissue in the lungs. He tested positive on July 30th. The voice actor voiced Shoukichi in Pom Poko.

Earlier this year, Shimono Hiro tested positive but he recovered quickly.

Japan is currently experiencing the fifth wave of coronavirus infections, with record numbers. Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga extended the state of emergency in the capital and other parts of the country until September 12th. The Delta variant is putting the medical system under strain. Over 80% of critical care beds in Tokyo are currently occupied, Reuters reports.
