One Piece Highlights Powerful Women Characters in 2nd WE ARE ONE Short Movie

The 2nd “WE ARE ONE” celebratory movie tells the story of a young woman, Minami, chasing her dream. Her boyfriend isn’t very supportive and, besides a funny “You haven’t lived then” remark when she says she never read One Piece, not much good comes out of him. Misaki has her own dream of opening a bakery, and she wavers until she decides to check out the One Piece manga. As she flips through the pages, we see the animated part of the short, which highlights some of the most powerful women of One Piece. This includes Kozuki Hiyori, Yamato, Boa Hancock, Robin and her mother, Nami and her Bellemere. Even Perona makes an appearance! You can watch the 2nd video below:

The cast for the live-action are Marie Iitoyo and Shuhei Nomura. Mika Ninagawa directed the 2nd video as well. Just like in the first one featuring Zoro and Sanji in Davy Back Fight, the theme song “TWILIGHT” is performed by RADWIMPS. After deciding to follow her dream, she even takes the One Piece manga with her! Perfect. The video also introduced Yamato, as well as her recently announced voice actress, Saori Hayami.

Eiichiro Oda’s ONE PIECE manga is celebrating volume 100 of the manga and episode 1000 of the anime being close. The volume will ship on September 3, while the anime has 10 more episodes to go. Because of that, there’s several projects currently ongoing to commemorate the milestones. The “WE ARE ONE” project is one of many, and we are going to see more in the upcoming days as the milestones get even closer.

This is the 3rd video of the “WE ARE ONE” collection. It’s a project to commemorate One Piece’s 100th manga volume and 1000th anime episode. It will be a collection of 5 videos, and we’ll get to see the remaining 2 in the following days. The 2nd one also revealed Yamato’s voice actress to be Hayami Saori!

You can catch up to the One Piece manga for free on either VIZ website or MANGA Plus, depending on region. The anime is streaming on Crunchyroll, and episode 990 will release on September 5.

One Piece always had some really strong and powerful women characters, and it was nice watching this video. Looking forward to the next 3!
