Assassin Aristocrat: Something Different From Redo of Healer Author Rui Tsukiyo

Assassin Aristocrat, or The World’s Finest Assassin Gets Reincarnated in Another World as an Aristocrat, was voted as the best anime in Fall 2021’s opening week by our fans. Being another work from Tsukiyo, Rui, the author of Redo of Healer – a show known for its extreme and explicit ways of presenting a revenge story (which our fans voted as the 9th Anime of the Season of Winter 2021), you might be thinking that Assassin Aristocrat is similar in nature. Well, it’s nowhere near as extreme, although there is blood and assassinations.

Studios Silver Link and Studio Palette are in charge of the production, and the first episode is high-paced and has some nice action sequences. It begins with an awesome opening with great visuals and theme song “Dark Seeks Light” by Yui Ninomiya. You can listen to the full version of the song below:

The Story

While Keyaru reverted time for his world before beginning his revenge in Redo of Healer, the story in Assassin Aristocrat focuses on a badass old man, who happens to be the world’s finest assassin, as he is reincarnated into a fantasy world. He was raised by ‘the organization’ and only knew of assassination. He followed orders to the letter, and never thought about betraying them. However, after his last mission ends and his retirement is supposed to start, the organization decides to get rid of him. And so his isekai life begins.

Episode 1 doesn’t show much of his new life. We see that he is there because of his assassination skills, and he needs to assassinate the Hero now as a condition. However, there’s magic involved, and he’s not a loner anymore. There are now assassin girls who do a lot of the work on the front side. Though they’re yet to be properly introduced. Comparing Assassin Aristocrat to Redo of Healer, there’s no explicit scenes, and it’s mostly SFW.

Author’s Finest Work

Back in May 2021, Joey interviewed the author Tsukiyo Rui and they talked mostly about Redo of Healer. However, he did talk a bit about his other works. He mentioned that Assassin Aristocrat is probably the most finely written one. In particular, he mentioned that he thought that the 1st and 2nd books were written really well. It’s also the one work he’d recommend most to readers (he wrote a total of 11-12 series). You can watch the full interview on Joey’s YouTube channel:

With a mature main character who’s lived a full life getting reincarnated as a young man, Assassin Aristocrat has a completely different point of view from Keyaru of Redo of Healer, who was an abused young man that just wants revenge. With good animation, no NSFW content and only a little fan service (so far), it’s an interesting anime that’s worth checking out even if you weren’t fond of RoH. Crunchyroll streams it, and they describe the story:

The world’s number one assassin has been reincarnated as the eldest son of a family of aristocrat assassins. In exchange for being reincarnated in another world, a goddess has imposed upon him one condition. “Kill the Hero who is prophesied to destroy the world.” This was to be the mission in his new life. The synergistic effect of the vast knowledge and experience he gained that made all manner of assassinations possible in the modern world, and the secret techniques and magic of the fantasy world’s most powerful family of assassins turn him into the greatest assassin of all time.

If you enjoy the show’s 2nd episode, make sure to vote for it in week 2!
