The first six episodes of The Orbital Children are currently streaming on Netflix. Luckily, fans won’t have to wait long for part two as it will release in a couple of weeks on February 11. You can view the official trailer for The Orbital Children below;
The Orbital Children is two movies meshed into a two-part series written and directed by Mitsuo Ito. For those of you who are not familiar with Ito’s work, he is an award-winning animator that has worked on iconic titles such as Neon Genesis Evangelion, Perfect Blue, and Ghost in the Shell. Ito also directed the 2007 sci-fi anime Den-noh Coil, which is now also available to watch on Netflix.
Production +h is animating the series and was founded in 2020 solely to animate The Orbital Children, similar to how Studio Bind was founded to animate Mushoku Tensei. So The Orbital Children will be the studio’s first major work. But let’s hope that Production +h will bring us more space/sci-fi anime in the near future. The Orbital Children was originally supposed to be animated by SIGNAL. MD, the same studio that animated the 2021 film Words Bubble Up Like Soda Pop. However, it was later changed to Production +h. The founder of the new studio, Honda Fuminori, is also an ex-producer at SIGNAL. MD.

The cast is full of veterans that many anime fans have come to know by heart. Fujiwara’s recent roles include Theo in 86-Eighty Six, Kabane from Kimono Jihen, and Abigail from Great Pretender. She also voiced Takuya in Night Head 2041, which is a 2021 series that Ono starred in as well, voicing the character of Yuuya. Kobayashi will also be joining the incredible cast—most known for her role as Black Star in the hit series Soul Eater. Waki has been involved with many roles recently, including Hinata from Tokyo Revengers and Nagisa from Girlfriend, Girlfriend. Meanwhile, Akasaki has become a favorite among Jujutsu Kaisen fans as the voice of Miwa. And as for Ise who will be voicing Nasa, you might know her as the voice of Killua from Hunter x Hunter (2011), Reg from Made in Abyss, or Ray from The Promised Neverland.
Synopsis
In 2045, two children born on the moon and three kids from Earth try to survive after an accident on their space station leaves them stranded.
