Blue Thermal movie is opening in Japanese theatres on March 4 and to celebrate the premiere a special video depicting Tamaki’s club joining ceremony was revealed. Telecom Animation Films (Tower of God) is animating the movie, which is based on a manga by Kana Ozawa.
In the special video, Jun Kuramochi (voiced by Nobunaga Shimazaki) tries to convince Tamaki Tsuru (voiced by Mayu Hotta) to join his gliding club. The second half of the video also includes the main trailer, which features the opening theme “Blue Thermal” by SHE’S:
Masaki Tachibana is directing the anime, while also writing the screenplay with Natsuko Takahashi. SHE’S is also performing the ending theme which is titled “Beautiful Bird“.

During her high school years, Tamaki Tsuru has devoted herself to volleyball. She moved to Tokyo from Nagasaki, longing for a “normal college life” filled with club activities and romance, but an accident soon after entering the university forces her to join her university’s gliding club to pay for the damage she caused by working as a lowly assistant. This is quite different from the life she had imagined for herself, but the moment she takes off in a glider piloted by Kuramochi, the captain of the club, she is fascinated by the beauty of the sky.
