Kyoji Asano worked as a character designer and animation director on WIT Studio’s adaptation of Attack on Titan, during which all 8 OAD episodes were produced. He tweeted saying that he imagined this scene took place after the conversation between Armin, Eren, and Mikasa in episode 49. Armin makes the two promise that they will go and see the sea together because there has to be more to the outside world than titans.

The OAD episodes were bundled with the 12th, 13th, 14th, 15th, 16th, 24th, 25th, and 26th limited-edition of the manga volumes. The OAD episodes recently aired on Japanese TV for the first time and are now also available to stream overseas with English subtitles.

The OAD episodes are:

  1. Ilse’s Notebook: Memoirs of a Scout Regiment Member
  2. The Sudden Visitor: The Torturous Curse of Youth
  3. Distress
  4. No Regrets: Part 1
  5. No Regrets: Part 2
  6. Lost Girls: Wall Sina, Goodbye: Part 1
  7. Lost Girls: Wall Sina, Goodbye: Part 2
  8. Lost Girls: Lost in the Cruel World: Part 3

Pony Canyon is publishing and distributing the Blu-ray, which will cost 10,000 yen (around US $87).
