86 Eighty-Six’s new ending theme eclipsed one million views on Hiroyuki Sawano’s official YouTube channel in its first week. The new ending theme “LilaS“, produced by Hiroyuki Sawano and sung by Honoka Takahashi, was posted to the channel on March 19. The video consists of the ending scene from the season one finale of the anime (spoiler warning).
It took just a couple more days for new ending theme to hit it’s one-million mark in comparison to the second opening theme, which reached one-million views in just five days The second opening theme, “Kyokaisen“, performed by amazarashi, currently has over 3.5 million views on the official Aniplex YouTube channel and 3.4 million streams on Spotify.
Sawano is argued as the all-time great by most when it comes to anime music composing. Whether it’s Attack on Titan, Kill la Kill, 86 Eighty-Six, or so many others, anime fans have heard his work at some point in time. Other 86 Eighty-Six ending themes have also had their own share of success. “Hands Up To The Sky” ft Laco currently has 3.2 million streams on spotify and 4.7 million views for the official video.

But it doesn’t stop there. “Avid” which is his most popular track from the official 86 Eighty-Six soundtrack, currently has over 8.1 million streams on Spotify. The track also received not one, but two separate videos. One was an official music video, which released in May 2021, while the other being an anime collaboration that released later the same year. The music video currently has 1.3 million views while the anime collaboration video has 3.7 million
The season finale for 86 Eighty-Six aired on March 18, 2022. Despite only airing for two weeks during the Winter 2022 season due to a three-month delay, 86 Eighty-Six still managed to place first in back-to-back weeks for our weekly polls. A special one-year anniversary event for the anime was announced via the official 86 Eighty-Six twitter page. The anniversary will take place in a couple of weeks on April 10.
