The upcoming Urusei Yatsura anime revealed additional cast information. Maaya Uchida (Charlotte, Food Wars!!, Goblin Slayer) and Mamoru Miyano (Steins;Gate, Durarara!!, Bungo Stray Dogs) are joining the Urusei Yatsura reboot as Shinobu Miyake and Shutaro Mendo. Their voices can also be heard in this newest promotional video:
According to the character description on the official website, Miyake is a girl with a cute appearance and a strong constitution, while Mendo is an heir to the Mendo family, which possesses extraordinary wealth.
The anime series was first announced in January this year, with Hiroshi Kamiya (Ataru Moroboshi) and Sumire Uesaka (Lum) being first announced as the main cast. The new anime series comes 35 years after a 195-episode series aired from October 1981 to March 1986. For this new adaptation, David Production is animating the series.
Urusei Yatsura is based on a romantic comedy manga from Rumiko Takahashi, first serialized from September 1978 until February 1987. An English version of the manga is available via Viz Media, with 12 volumes available.
In a high-stakes game of tag, Ataru must touch Lum’s horns in ten days—or aliens will take over the earth! The fact that Lum can fly doesn’t make Ataru’s job any easier.
