GoFundMe for Voice Actor Billy Kametz Launched After Cancer Diagnosis

A GoFundMe fundraiser for Billy Kametz, with the goal of raising $100,000, was launched two days ago to help support the voice actor in his battle with cancer. The description of the fundraiser states that the goal is to allow Kametz to focus on recovery, without worrying about finances. Kametz, who is currently fighting stage IV colon cancer, thanked the fans for their support and positivity on his Twitter.

At the time of writing, the fundraiser has collected over 80,000 USD, with over 1,400 thousand people donating and writing supportive messages. Kametz recently revealed his diagnosis and stated that he is taking a break from work activities for his health in a video published on his channel. He asked his fans to support whoever replaces him in the titles he was working on before the break.

Billy Kametz is an American voice actor, born on March 22 in 1987. He is a well-known name among anime dub watchers, having voiced Naofumi Iwatani from The Rising of the Shield Hero, Josuke Higashikata from JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Diamond Is Unbreakable, and Shinei Nouzen from 86: Eighty-Six, among others. His most recent roles include Nicolo (Attack on Titan Final Season Part 2) and Marcus Annius Verus in Netflix’s Thermae Romae Novae. During his prolific career, Kametz also voiced characters in a number of video games. He voiced Rui from Demon Slayer in both the anime and the Demon Slayer: The Hinokami Chronicles game, but also Baelo in Final Fantasy Brave Exvius: War of the Visions and Takuto Maruki in Persona 5 Royal.
