Spy x Family’s official Twitter account posted a “main visual” drawn by the ending song Comedy’s singer, Gen Hoshino, after the 8th episode aired on May 28 in Japan.
The visual shows 5 characters from the anime. Anya Forger seems happy with her eyes sparkling in excitement for her father, Loid Forger’s seemingly professional spy behavior. He holds something in his left hand like an envelope that reads “Information.” His boss Sylvia Sherwood seemingly walks behind them, while Yor Forger stands a little bit behind them, in a fighting pose with a knife in her right hand and a flower in her left hand. Franky Franklin, who assists Loid at times, can be seen in the corner.
Atsumi Tanezaki, Anya’s voice actress, showed her surprise on Twitter: “Eh… Gen Onii-san is… good [at drawing]…” The author of the Spy x Family manga series, Tatsuya Endo also quote-tweeted the official post with a picture of Anya shocked to see his illustration and wondering about the information Loid has: “That is more decent than I expected…! What is the Information?“
This isn’t the first time Spy x Family anime received a special illustration. The voice actors of the Forger Family, Atsumi Tanezaki (Anya), Takuya Eguchi (Loid), and Saori Hayami (Yor) drew special illustrations for episode 4. Their drawings were colored by professionals and posted on April 30. Gen Hoshino welcomed them as guests to his radio program Gen Hoshino’s All Night Nippon on May 11. During the talk, Hoshino revealed he felt sympathy and rivalry in Eguchi and Hayami’s drawings. Tanezaki wished she could see Hoshino’s version of the Forger family, and the singer replied he would give it a try someday. She also noted that professional coloring would make anything look wonderful.
Spy x Family is Tatsuya Endo’s spy and family-themed manga series serialized on Shueisha’s online manga service Shonen Jump+. The manga released Volume 1 in July 2019 and the latest, 9th, volume in April 2022. The series has sold over 18 million circulating copies as of May 9, 2022. It received an anime adaptation produced by WIT STUDIO and CloverWorks, which is currently airing.
Gen Hoshino is a Japanese singer and actor who performs the ending theme song “Kigeki/Comedy” for Spy x Family. He posted on his YouTube channel a music video for the song on May 5, 2022. The number of views reached over 6 million as of the time of writing.
