The upcoming Uncle From Another World revealed the opening sequence that features the opening theme song “Story” by Mayu Maeshima this past weekend. The anime will premiere in Japan on July 6 and Netlix will stream it worldwide at a later date.
The main cast of Uncle From Another World (Isekai Ojiisan) includes:
- Takehito Koyasu as Ojisan/Uncle,
- Jun Fukuyama as Takafumi
- Mikako Komatsu as Fujimiya
- Aoi Yuki as Mabel
- Aki Toyosaki as Alicia
- Haruka Tomatsu as Elf
Studio Atelier Pontdarc is animating the Uncle from Another World anime. Shigeki Kawai is directing the anime. Kazuhiro Ota is a character designer on the project. Ota is also working as chief animation director on the project. In addition, Kenta Ihara is overseeing the series composition and writing the screenplay.
The Uncle from Another World is based on a manga by Hotondoshindeiru. Yen Press licensed it and describes the plot as:
Seventeen years ago, Takafumi’s uncle fell into a coma, but now he’s back like a man risen from his grave. Soon, Takafumi discovers two bizarre things: His uncle treasures video games above all else, and, while comatose, he was actually transported to another world as some heroic guardian! Now, not only does Takafumi have to room with an uncle who is literally magical, he also has to catch the guy up on two decades of history—smartphones, high-speed internet, modern anime tropes…and the traumatic outcome of the ’90s console war!
