Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 has revealed a teaser visual and a 2023 premiere date. Studio MAPPA is animating the sequel. A special program will be held tomorrow, as previously teased last month along with a release of a key visual for “The Origin of Blind Obedience” arc. Jujutsu Kaisen will also have its own stage at the upcoming Toho Animation 10th Anniversary Event, on September 25.
Jujutsu Kaisen is based on a manga by Gege Akutami that is currently being serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. The manga launched on March 5, 2018, and 20 volumes are currently out. Viz Media is publishing the manga in English. The manga exceeded 70 million copies in circulation earlier this August.
The Jujutsu Kaisen anime adaptation by studio MAPPA premiered in 2020. The same studio also animated the Jujutsu Kaisen 0 prequel movie, which is based on a one-shot manga of the same name.
Crunchyroll is streaming the anime and describes the plot as:
Yuji Itadori is a boy with tremendous physical strength, though he lives a completely ordinary high school life. One day, to save a classmate who has been attacked by curses, he eats the finger of Ryomen Sukuna, taking the curse into his own soul. From then on, he shares one body with Ryomen Sukuna. Guided by the most powerful of sorcerers, Satoru Gojo, Itadori is admitted to Tokyo Jujutsu High School, an organization that fights the curses… and thus begins the heroic tale of a boy who became a curse to exorcise a curse, a life from which he could never turn back.
