The upcoming Super Mario animated movie has revealed its first trailer which features the voice cast, and it’s set to release on April 7 in the United States and April 28 in Japan. The film is being produced by Illumination and Nintendo, while Universal Pictures will distribute it. It is the third feature film adaptation of the popular video game franchise. The official title is The Super Mario Bros. Movie:
The trailer was shown at this year’s NYCC and it featured a message from Shigeru Miyamoto and Chris Meledandri, who spoke about the movie, which will be finished next week. Messages from Chris Pratt and Jack Black were also shown.

Prior adaptations were the 1986 anime film Super Mario Bros.: The Great Mission to Rescue Princess Peach! and the 1993 live-action film Super Mario Bros. The animated Super Mario film is being directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic, with screenplay by Matthew Fogel. The voice cast for the movie includes:

- Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach
- Charlie Day as Luigi
- Jack Black as Bowser
- Keegan-Michael Key as Toad
- Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong
- Fred Armisen as Cranky Kong
- Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek
- Sebastian Maniscalco as Foreman Spike
