Nintendo Goes All Out in Latest Direct With Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Kingdom Hearts IV, New Xenoblade, Fire Emblem, and a Lot More

Nintendo packed its latest June 9 Nintendo Direct with major first-party reveals, long-awaited third-party announcements, and several surprise projects for Nintendo Switch 2.

Probably the most important announcement was the reveal that The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time will return in 2026 for Nintendo Switch 2, bringing one of the most acclaimed games in Nintendo’s history to the company’s newest platform. Originally released for the Nintendo 64 in 1998, the game is widely regarded as one of the most influential action-adventure titles ever made.

Another major highlight came from Square Enix, which shared a trailer for Kingdom Hearts IV and confirmed the game will launch on Nintendo Switch 2 alongside other platforms. The trailer gives a look at Sora in action, and you can check it out below.

Square Enix also announced Kingdom Hearts Collection [I–III] for Nintendo Switch 2, bringing the franchise’s mainline entries together on Nintendo’s newest system. Coming for the Nintendo Switch 2 on October 8, 2026

Nintendo’s own lineup featured several major reveals, including Xenoblade Genesis, a brand-new entry in Monolith Soft’s acclaimed RPG franchise.

The digital version of Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, and its upgrade pack, are available today. The physical edition will launch July 30.

The company also announced Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave, marking the return of the strategy RPG series with a completely new story and characters.

FINAL FANTASY RESONANCE will release on the Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch on October 22, 2026. Described as:
Imagine what classic FINAL FANTASY could have become if pixel art kept evolving. FINAL FANTASY RESONANCE is the first HD-2D FINAL FANTASY title blending pixel art with dynamic camera work.

Fans of Splatoon received the first look at Splatoon Raiders, while Nintendo also unveiled Nintendo Switch Sports Resort, a new expansion of the Switch Sports formula featuring additional activities and locations.

Among third-party announcements, Atlus confirmed Metaphor: ReFantazio releasing on November 12, 2026 for Nintendo Switch 2, while Shift Up’s action RPG Stellar Blade and Capcom’s Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen were also revealed for the platform.

FromSoftware shared a new look at The Duskbloods, launching exclusively on the Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026, with a closed network test ‘coming soon.’

Capcom continued its showing with Onimusha: Way of the Sword and Devil May Cry 5: Devil Hunter Edition, while Neowiz announced Lies of P: Complete Edition for Switch 2.

Dragon Quest fans were treated to the announcement of Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World launching on December 3, while Bandai Namco revealed ONE PIECE: Grand Gourmet, a Kairosoft-developed restaurant management simulator featuring more than 400 characters from Eiichiro Oda’s pirate franchise launching on October 23.

Anime and manga fans also got a surprise with the reveal of JUJUTSU KAISEN RUMBLE: SURVIVATON, a new game based on Gege Akutami’s manga.

DELTARUNE Chapter 5, a free update coming to Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch on June 24, 2026, revealed a teaser as well.

  • Pikuniku 2, releasing in 2027 for the Nintendo Switch 2

  • Big Walk releasing on August 4, 2026
  • Orbitals, releasing exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2 on September 3, 2026
  • Rayman Legends Retold
  • Hello Kitty Party Land, coming to both Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch on October 29, 2026
  • Lords of the Fallen II, releasing for the Nintendo Switch 2 in Fall 2026
  • Minecraft for Nintendo Switch 2, releasing in 2026

Between Zelda, Kingdom Hearts, Xenoblade, Fire Emblem, and Dragon Quest, Nintendo Switch 2 owners have a packed lineup of releases to look forward to, while others may be looking into getting one soon.
