Tomoki Izumi’s horror manga Mieruko-chan released the 8th compiled volume on Friday and the author announced that the series surpassed 2 million circulating copies. The mangaka posted a special illustration to celebrate the achievement.

The author’s visual post, captioned “Volume 8 released and 2 million circulating copies… Thank you” with a crying face emoji, shows the protagonist Miko Yotsuya on the left with a smile giving a peace sign in her right hand indicating “2,” while at the center stands a friend of hers, Hana Yurikawa, who is showing the OK gesture. Ther friend Yuria Niguredo gave the same hand sign in her left hand over her left eye to signal “0”. The body languages mean 200 of 2 million circulating copies. The three of them are surrounded by “monsters”. The text in the upper right reads “Mieruko-chan surpassed 2 million circulating copies!!” while the text in the bottom right says “the 8th compiled volume is on sale” with the author’s name “Izumi”.

Tomoki Izumi began Mieruko-chan on Twitter and launched the series on KADOKAWA’s ComicWalker manga website in November 2018. The manga released the first compiled volume in April 2019 and inspired an anime adaptation having aired from October to December 2021, animated by Passione.

Yen Press licensed the manga for English releases and describes the plot of Volume 1 as:
A normal girl was living a normal life-until she wasn’t. One day, she could see…everything. What’s a girl to do when hideous monsters appear no matter which way she turns? And on top of that, nobody else can see them! Obviously, there’s only one thing that makes sense-ignore them. Kinda hard to put theory into practice, though, when the ghosts know she’s watching…
