The previously announced SAND LAND anime movie has revealed a visual, as well as details on additional cast members. The movie is set to have its theatrical premiere on August 18 in Japan.
The additional cast members include Akio Otsuka as Satan and Tomokazu Sugita as Swimmer’s Papa. Previously announced cast members include:
- Mutsumi Tamura as Beelzebub
- Chafurin as King
- Cho as Thief
- Hiroyuki Yoshino as Shark
- Kazuhiro Yamaji as Rao
- Koji Yusa as Pike
- Masafumi Kobatake as Guppy
- Nobuo Tobita as General Zeu
- Satoshi Tsuruoka as General Are
Kamikaze Douga and ANIMA are producing the Sand Land anime movie, under the direction of Toshihisa Yokoshima. Hiroshi Kojina serves as the movie’s advisor, with Hayashi Mori on the screenplay, Yuugo Kanno on the music, and Yoshikazu Iwanami.
Sand Land is a manga series written and illustrated by Akira Toriyama. It was originally serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine from May to August 2000 and later published in a single volume. Viz Media licensed it in English in 2003 and describes the plot as:
In the far future, war has destroyed the entire Earth, leaving only a barren wasteland where the supply of water is controlled by the greedy king. In search of a long-lost lake, Sheriff Rao asked the king of the demons for help…and got the king’s son, Beelzebub, and his assistant, Thief. Together the unlikely trio sets off across the desert, facing dragons, bandits and the deadliest foe of all… the King’s army itself! It’s travel adventure and tank action in this new story from Akira Toriyama, the creator of Dragon Ball Z!
