A Couple of Cuckoos Season 2 released the Episode 7 preview images, trailer, and synopsis. It will premiere on Tuesday, August 19, on Crunchyroll and Bilibili. Masakazu Hishida and Kazama Hiromi are directing the episode titled “We’re Breaking Through,” and the synopsis is as follows:
Ai shows up at the hotel where Nagi and Erika are staying!? After sneaking into their room, Ai suggests that Nagi escapes with her. However, he turns her down, and Ai then shifts her attention toward Erika instead. Fiancée and childhood friend, are they on the verge of an explosive clash!?

Studio Okuruto Noboru is animating the second season while Masakazu Hishida is directing with Jou Aoba as scriptwriter, Kyoko ‌Kon as the character designer, and Rei ‌Ishizuka as the music composer. The opening theme song of the series is “Kimi ga Kureta Mono” is performed by asmi, while the ending theme song “Anata ‌de ‌nakucha” is sung by 22/7.

Kodansha licensed the manga by Miki Yoshikawa in English and describes the plot as follows:
16-year-old super-studier Nagi Umino, second-year student at the Meguro River Academy high school, was switched at birth. On his way to a dinner to meet his birth parents, he accidentally meets the brash, outspoken, Erika Amano, who is determined to make Nagi her fake boyfriend as she never wants to actually marry. But once Nagi makes it to dinner, he finds his parents have decided to resolve the hospital switch by conveniently having him marry the daughter his birth parents raised…who turns out to be none other than Erika herself!
