FLCL is an original OVA anime series that first aired in 2000. Kazuya Tsurumaki created the series and directed the first season. The sequel, FLCL: Progressive, aired in the Spring 2018 anime season and was directed by Toshihisa Kaiya. The third season, titled FLCL: Alternative, premiered in the fall of the same year and it followed a new set of characters while being the part of the same universe. Each season had 6 episodes. Gainax and Production I.G. animated the first season. Production I.G, was joined by Signal.MD and Production GoodBook for Progressive, while Production I.G, REVOROOT, and NUT animated Alternative. All three FLCL seasons are available on Adult Swim.
In addition to the two new FLCL titles, a whole new original story has also been announced. Yuji Nara is directing the Housing Complex C. The story follows Kimi who lives in a small housing complex in Kurosaki. Trouble seems to follow her wherever she goes and then suddenly terrible accidents begin occurring. What exactly is going on in Housing Complex C? Amphibian is providing the original concept and script.
