Asteroid Daianji Makes the First Three Volumes of Asteroid in Love Free To Read

Manga Time Kirara Carat has announced that Asteroid in Love‘s first three volumes will be free to read from September 18th to the 23rd to celebrate the discovery of asteroid Daianji.

Come On! Impacting Asteroids (COIAS) discovered asteroid Daianji (2015 FX₄₈₈, #865364) using archival data from the Subaru Telescope at the Mauna Kea Observatory.

Naming regulations give the team at the Subaru Telescope the right to name asteroid #865364. But the Mauna Observatory allowed COIAS to name the minor planet. The COIAS team honored one of the discoverers, a fifth-year student at Okayama Daianji Junior High School, by naming the asteroid “Daianji.” On September 7, 2026, the International Astronomical Union’s Working Group on the Naming of Small Objects (WGSBN) published the name in its bulletin.

Asteroid Daianji has a 0.046 elliptical orbit and an orbital length radius of 2.75 au. Its orbit allows it to pass as close as 1.1617 au to Earth. Other scientific details include:

• Average Perihelion of 268.844°
• Perihelion distance of 2.600 au and a perihelion arguments of 250682°
• Orbital cycle of 1,643,134 days and an orbital angle of inclination of 1.877°
• Tislan Parameter of 3354

COIAS has previously named an asteroid after Quro. Asteroid in Love’s Ao Manaka and Hoshizaki High School also boast an asteroid named after them.

Quro debuted Asteroid in Love (Koisuru Asteroid)in January 2017. Houbunsha’s Manga Time Kirara Carat serialized the manga until its June 2024 conclusion. The publisher compiled the manga into six tankobon volumes.
