The previously announced Beastars continuation is season 3 and it will stream in 2024, as announced earlier today. Studio Orange is returning. Netflix will stream the anime exclusively once again. This will be the anime’s final season. Teaser visual was previously revealed:
Shinichi Matsumi directed the first two seasons of the anime, while Nao Ootsu did character designs. Both are returning for Beastars Season 3. Nanami Higuchi worked on the screenplay and Satoru Kousaki composed the music.
Beastars is a manga by Paru Itakagi. It started serialization in 2016 in Weekly Shounen Champion. The manga ended in 2020, after 196 chapters, compiled into 22 volumes. The Beastars universe also has a side-story titled Beast Complex, which focuses on different characters.
Viz Media licensed the manga in English. A total of 20 volumes have been translated and published so far. Viz describes the plot as:
One night at Cherryton Academy, an herbivore student is brutally murdered. Among the members of the Drama Club, the herbivores’ suspicions naturally turn to their carnivore classmates… The prime suspect? Wolf Legoshi. But he wouldn’t hurt a fly. Or would he? Will dwarf rabbit Haru bring out the beast in him? Or are his feelings for her…something else? (Viz Media)
