The upcoming fourth season of Black Butler anime, titled Public School Arc, revealed a new key visual and confirmed the April 13 premiere date. Studio CloverWorks is animating the highly anticipated sequel to the Book of the Atlantic.
Kenjiro Okada (March Comes in Like a Lion) is directing the anime, with Hiroyuki Yoshino on the series composition. Yumi Shimizu is in charge of the character designs. Ryo Kawasaki is composing the music. Maaya Sakamoto and Daisuke Ono are returning as Ciel Phantomhive and Sebastian Michaelis.
The new Black Butler anime comes seven years after the latest installment in the franchise, the Black Butler: Book of the Atlantic movie. The movie was animated by A-1 Pictures, which also worked on all of the previous seasons. Crunchyroll is streaming the anime and describes the plot as:
Ciel Phantomhive is the most powerful boy in all of England, but he bears the scars of unspeakable suffering. Forced to watch as his beloved parents were brutally murdered, Ciel was subsequently abducted and violently tortured. Desperate to end his suffering, the boy traded his own soul for a chance at vengeance, casting his lot with the one person on whom he could depend: Sebastian, a demon Butler summoned from the very pits of hell. Together, they’ll prowl the darkest alleys of London on a mission to snuff out those who would do evil.
The anime adapts the Black Butler manga written by Yana Toboso. The manga has been serialized in GFantasy since 2008.
