Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King movie will premiere on June 16 on Netflix and to count down until the big day the official Twitter has been sharing new illustrations. The first one is Magna, who has never looked cooler, while the second one is by studio Perrot’s staff and shows the “behind the scenes process of making the movie”:
Ayataka Tanemura is directing, with Itsuko Takeda on the character designs. Minako Seki is composing the music. Johnny Onda, who wrote the Black Clover: Yuno no Sho light novel is one of the scriptwriters, and the original mangaka, Yuki Tabata is supervising the production. The Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King movie will not adapt the manga and will be a standalone story.
The Black Clover franchise started with a manga by Yuki Tabata. It started serialization in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump in 2015 and currently has 33 volumes out. An anime by studio Pierrot aired from 2017 to 2021 and ended after 170 episodes. Viz Media licensed the manga in English and describes the plot as:
Young Asta was born with no magic ability in a world where magic is everything. In order to prove his strength and keep a promise with his friend, Asta dreams of becoming the greatest mage in the land, the Wizard King!
