Celebrating 20 Years of The Familiar of Zero Anime and What It Stands For

What are some of your favorite things about The Familiar of Zero? Hopefully the remaining light novels and the memorial book will be translated into English, in honor of the anime’s 20th anniversary.

Thank you to Yamaguchi Noboru-sensei for changing the world with his writing and genuine spirit. Even when he was fighting through cancer, he never gave up and ensured fans would get a proper ending with the final volumes notes’ and involvement of the final season. Yamaguchi-sensei is credited as the one responsible for the final season’s scripts and series composition. 

Thank you J.C Staff for inviting him onto the final season to help deliver a happy and definitive ending. Thank you to all the voice actors, singer ICHIKO, animators, and directors involved in the anime for some of the best memories. Thank you to Usatsuka Eiji-sensei for his illustrations. Thank you to Shimizu Yu-sensei and MF Bunko J Imprint for completing the final volumes, in accordance with the author’s dying wishes. I look forward to all their future contributions.

The 20th anniversary is celebrated with a bunch of announcements like WEBTOON and KADOKAWA turning The Familiar of Zero into a WEBTOON, special exhibitions and Round One events in Japan, and special merchandise.

• The first online lottery to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the anime The Familiar of Zero has been announced, July 28, 2026 (Tue) 12:00 to August 25, 2026 (Tue) 11:59.
• Wireless earphones featuring a collaboration design with the anime The Familiar of Zero, complete with newly recorded voice guides with Kugimiya Rie (Louise), are set to be released! Pre Orders August 2026
• The Familiar of Zero 20th Anniversary Exhibition to Be Held in Ikebukuro, Tokyo, Dates: August 10, 2026 (Mon) – August 30, 2026 (Sun). 
• Good Smile Company Nendoroid 2.0 (#2970) Louise Françoise Le Blanc de La Vallière (August 31, 2026)

• A collaboration event between the anime The Familiar of Zero and the game Jolly Roger has been announced, December 1, 2026.
