Code Geass: Z of the Recapture to Reveal New Information on December 18

The previously announced Code Geass: Z of the Recapture (Dakkan no Z) anime project will be revealing new information on December 18 at 19:00 JST. The special event will be held at Shinjuku Wald 9 theatre and will host Jun Fukuyama (Lelouch’s voice actor), director Yoshimitsu Ohashi, and producers Yasumasa Tsuchiya and Kojiro Taniguchi. Surprise guests might also appear, as the listing states. The format of the title is still unknown.

Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion is an original anime series by studio Sunrise. Goro Taniguchi directed it, while Ichiro Okouchi wrote the script. CLAMP group did the original character designs. The first season aired from October 2006 to July 2007 and had 25 episodes. The sequel, Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2, aired from April 2008 to September 2008, and also had 25 episodes. The franchise is home to many OVA side stories; the five-episode Code Geass: Akito the Exiled stands out as well-recieved.

A movie trilogy that recapped the events from both seasons was released between 2017 and 2018. The story adapted the two seasons but was also set in an alternate universe, where the events unfold differently. The trilogy movies are titled Initiation, Transgression, and Glorification. They were followed by an original sequel movie, titled Code Geass: Lelouch of the Re;surrection in 2019. Multiple manga and light novel adaptations of the series also exist.

Z of the Recapture was announced alongside the Code Geass: Genesic Re;CODE gacha mobile game, which was launched in 2021. The franchise celebrated Lelouch’s birthday on December 5 with a special illustration:
