DAN DA DAN collaborated with Coca-Cola for a new Fanta commercial starring a live-action Turbo Granny. The commercial was posted to the DAN DA DAN X (formerly Twitter) and the Coca-Cola Japan YouTube channel.
The latter captioned it, “Fanta and the TV anime ‘Dandadan’ are collaborating! / That character has come to Fanta Academy as a teacher!? When you get caught up in something crazy, drink Fanta with your friends and laugh it off! You’ll feel refreshed!!! Fanta! DAN DA DAN is enjoying more success in its currently airing second season. Crunchyroll, Hulu, and Netflix stream the anime. The anime debuted at #4 on Netflix’s top 10 non-English shows from July 7 to July 13, with 4.5 million hours watched, or what Netflix considers 5.4 million views when divided by its 50-minute runtime (2 episodes). When looking at Netflix’s top 10 for both English and non-English TV series, DAN DA DAN Season 2 was the 5th most-watched show on Netflix overall during this period.
Fuga Yamashiro and Abel Góngora co-direct DAN DA DAN Season 2 at Science SARU. Crunchyroll describes it:
When high schooler Momo, from a family of spirit mediums, first meets her classmate Okarun, an occult geek, they argue—Momo believes in ghosts but denies aliens, and Okarun believes in aliens but denies ghosts. When it turns out both phenomena are real, Momo awakens a hidden power and Okarun gains the power of a curse. Together, they must challenge the paranormal forces threatening their world.
