DanMachi Season 4 Episode 2 - Maybe Listen to Cassandra for Once

DanMachi Season 4 (Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon IV) episode 2 was another setup episode for the rest of the season to come. The episode went by in a flash leaving nothing to be remembered except more pent-up excitement for what may come later down the line. Also, why is Cassandra even here if nobody is going to listen to her?

I Hear You, Cassandra

One thing that constantly gets me is that Cassandra is basically used as a character that just straight up foreshadows proceeding events only to have everyone else act like they never would’ve seen it coming. Her role in the season premiere warning about the journey to the bottom of the dungeon, only to be ignored, was still a nice touch to get everyone ready for the Labyrinth Arc. Yet here we are again in episode 2 ignoring what she says, only to have Chigusa get hurt in the process and almost everyone else as well.

Not only that, but Cassandra has healing magic yet wasn’t exactly running over to heal Chigusa after the incident either. I understand everyone in the group has a role to serve and, for the most part, that was actually shown off well in this episode. But given that Cassandra’s “Seer” ability seems to be rather important and it keeps getting swept under the rug almost makes it hard to feel bad for a character whenever they get hurt in the first place. Maybe it’s time to stop ignoring her and be a little more cautious. Never mind, that would make the story boring and uneventful, right?

Uneventful… For the Most Part

With the way the season premiere left off, it felt like the setup was done and out of the way—that’s not a bad thing. It made the viewers hyped for what was to come. But episode 2 just constantly left me with the thought of “when is everything going to start hitting the fan?” Luckily, it finally came at the end of the episode.

But the good thing is the Labyrinth Arc will definitely pick up sooner rather than later. With Cassandra’s visions, Aisha’s warnings, and Luvis hanging on for dear life, episode 2 still did a great job of letting us know that things are only going to get worse from here on out and that we’re in for some epic moments.

DanMachi Season 4 Episode 2 Wrap-Up

DanMachi Season 4 episode 2 was by no means poorly directed, produced, or anything of the sort. In fact, some of the sound design in this episode was incredible. It just ended up becoming another “okay onto the next one” type of episode that we’ll pretty much forget by the season’s end.
