The upcoming Date a Live IV anime will premiere on April 8, 2022. Sweet Arms is performing the ending theme. Studio GEEKTOYS is animating the series, while Jun Nakagawa (High School Fleet) is directing. A new key visual has been revealed:
Date a Live IV is the fourth season of the Date a Live anime series. Studio AIC Plus+ animated the first season of the series in 2013, which had a total of 12 episodes and an OVA. The second season aired in 2014 and was animated by studio Production IMS. It had a total of 10 episodes and an OVA. In 2015, a movie titled Date A Live Movie: Mayuri Judgment premiered in Japanese theatres. The franchise came back in 2019 with the 3rd season under J.C. Staff, and it had a total of 12 episodes. Keitaro Motonaga (School Days) is the one who directed all of it. In 2020, two movies premiered in Japan titled Date A Bullet: Dead or Bullet and Date A Bullet: Nightmare or Queen under director Nakagawa.
The anime is based on Koshi Tachibana’s Date a Live light novel series. Fujimi Shobo started serializing it in 2011 and it ended in 2020. The light novel series had a total of 22 volumes available. The same author also wrote a light novel titled Date a Live: Encore, which includes the short stories from the original series. The same publisher is also publishing a spin-off light novel series titled Date A Live Fragment: Date A Live Bullet under Koshi Tachibana’s supervision, and it currently has 7 volumes in circulation.
