Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Infinity Castle Arc anime movie trilogy has been officially announced. The announcement comes immediately after the Hashira Training Arc finale, which served as a short break and introduction before the anime goes into the real fights against Muzan and his strongest demons.
Crunchyroll announced that the trio of films will be distributed by Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment worldwide (excluding certain regions in Asia). A key visual was also revealed:
The Infinity Castle Arc was the longest in the manga, having run for 47 chapters (Entertainment District had 31, Swordsmith Village had 30). It begins at the end of volume 16 and ends with volume 21. VIZ describes the story of the 17th volume, which begins the arc as:
The Demon Slayer Corps plunges into Infinity Castle to confront Muzan. Shinobu engages in a fierce fight against Doma, the Upper Rank 2 demon. Poison doesn’t work on him, so she finds herself in an intense struggle. Will she be able to defeat the demon who killed her older sister?! Then another demon appears before Zenitsu and blocks his way…
The anime only hasn’t covered the Final Battle arc (Infinity Castle + Sunrise Countdown). The Sunrise Countdown ran for 22 chapters in the manga and was the final part of the series.
Infinity Castle is not the first movie project for the franchise: Mugen Train Arc was also initially distributed in theatres before getting included in the second season of the TV anime adaptation. As part of promotional efforts for Seasons 3 and 4, Demon Slayer also ran the To the Entertainment District and To the Hashira Training screenings.
