Dragon Ball Super: Beerus TV Anime Announced for Fall 2026
The final major reveal at Dragon Ball Genkidamatsuri was Dragon Ball Super: Beerus, a new TV anime project officially announced during Exclusive Announcements! GENKIDASTAGE Part 2. The series is scheduled to premiere in Fall 2026.
The announcement was made at Makuhari Messe with Masako Nozawa (Goku), Akio Iyoku (Executive Producer), and Koichi Yamadera, the Japanese voice actor of Beerus, present on stage.
According to Iyoku, the Beerus anime is an “enhanced edition” that reconstructs the story with newly added cuts, improved artwork, and fully reshot scenes. He explained that the project is based on a story scenario originally created by Akira Toriyama, and that the production team made a deliberate effort to stay more faithful to Toriyama’s original draft. The goal, he said, was to more strongly emphasize Beerus as both a powerful enemy and a defining character within the Dragon Ball universe.
Background
Dragon Ball began serialization in 1984 in Weekly Shonen Jump and has since grown into one of the most successful franchises in entertainment history, spanning manga, television, films, games, and global merchandising. Following the end of the original manga, the franchise continued to expand with theatrical films, Dragon Ball Super, and recent projects such as Dragon Ball DAIMA.
With multiple anime, game, and multimedia projects now confirmed or in development, the 40th anniversary marks one of the most active periods in Dragon Ball’s history. Akira Toriyama passed away on March 1, 2024, although he was confirmed to have been involved heavily with the ongoing projects.
