eFootball Reveals First Captain Tsubasa Manga Crossover & FIFAe World Cup Kickoff

Konami Digital Entertainment B.V. announced that its eFootball (formerly PES) game will collaborate with the iconic Captain Tsubasa manga for special login items and in-game events. Users can receive the special 5-star login cards that cross over with the manga during the following campaign periods:

  • December 5–Feb 20, 2025: Lionel Messi (Tsubasa Ozora)
  • December 5–26: Takefusa Kubo (Taro Misaki)
  • December 12–26: Manuel Neuer (Genzo Wakabayashi)
  • December 19–26: Luis Suárez (Kojiro Hyuga)

Meanwhile, users can also sign the special cards Joshua Kimmich (Hikaru Matsuyama) between December 12–26 and Dayot Upamecano (Ryo Ishizaki) between December 19–26, by competing in events. These events allow players to control actual Captain Tsubasa characters.

Captain Tsubasa author Yoichi Takahashi also drew new artwork of eFootball ambassadors Lionel Messi (the GOAT) and Takefusa Kubo, both wearing eFootball original uniforms inspired by the original manga’s Nankatsu Junior High School. eFootball x Captain Tsubasa events:

  • Time Attack Event: Users can control characters from Captain Tsubasa, such as Tsubasa Oozora himself and Taro Misaki. They will compete against the clock to reach the goal. At each stage, users will collect ‘pieces’ that come together to complete a piece of Captain Tsubasa artwork. These can lead to users acquiring unique avatars for their profiles in addition to various in-game items gathered too.
  • Daily Bonus: Users can control the anime characters to score penalty kicks and earn rewards.

eFootball x FIFAe World Cup 2024 Will Kick-Off in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia On December 9th

The eFootball x FIFAe World Cup 2024 is also taking place this month, hosted by FIFA in front of a live audience at the SEF Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The competition will be held across two categories: Console (PS4 and PS5) and Mobile. The players who have won through the in-game qualifying rounds, participated in by 14 million people, and passed the National Selection Process were trimmed down to just 54 players in the console division and 16 in the mobile division. The console division is a 2v2 format while the mobile division features 1v1 contests. The total prize pool is $100,000.

Interested fans should head to FIFAe’s official YouTube channel daily from December 9-12 for the live streams where they can unlock a maximum of 4,000 eFootball™ points and 400,000GP through daily bonuses. The stream links are also available here:
