Fate Rewinder manga is officially getting a TV anime adaptation, with studio Bones Film handling the animation under Rie Matsumoto’s direction. Some of Matsumoto’s previous direction credits include Kyosogiga (2013) and Blood Blockade Battlefront (Kekkai Sensen, 2015).
As for Bones Film, it’s currently working on the ongoing Gachiakuta anime, which is confirmed to run for 24 episodes over two consecutive cours. They also have the upcoming My Hero Academia FINAL SEASON, which will premiere in October.
The new anime will be produced by STORY Inc., and a ‘super teaser’ visual and trailer were also unveiled. The series is described as a “time-leap x action manga that has received high praise from top creators across various fields.” You can watch the announcement trailer below.
The original creator Futa Kimura commented:
Fate Rewinder is becoming a TV anime! And with an unbelievably incredible team! This is the happiest moment of my life!!
I’ve made it this far thanks to my editor Mr. Waki, everyone at the CoroCoro editorial department, my assistants, the Fate Rewinder YouTube team, my family, and most of all, the CoroCoro readers who have supported Fate Rewinder! Thank you!!
I’m looking forward to the day I can watch Chrono running around to help others on TV!
Director Rie Matsumoto also commented:
Fate Rewinder is a story about saving people. And as the title suggests, it’s also a story about going back in time.
To rescue people from a fate of death (or “stopping”), the protagonist Chrono repeatedly travels between the past and the future. Even as he becomes battered and worn down, he continues steadily—reflecting, recording, and moving forward. Every time I see him, I feel deeply moved.
He also holds a strong belief: that he must save everyone involved in his missions.
No matter what the reason, he refuses to accept a world where someone’s future can be taken away for the convenience of others.
He’s terrible in terms of “cost performance” and “time efficiency,” but that uncompromising spirit and straightforward sense of justice make him an incredibly admirable protagonist.
Even if he fails a thousand times, he’ll never give up on saving you that one time.
As anime staff, we’re proud to walk alongside Chrono and Mr. Kimura with the same sense of respect.
Everyone, please look forward to it.
