From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman Season 2 revealed a new teaser trailer, visual, and a July 2026 release date. The sequel anime was announced immediately after the first season, which was streaming on Amazon’s Prime Video until June 2025. Studios Passione and Hayabusa Film are returning to animate.

From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman Season 2 – New Teaser Trailer

The story follows Beryl Gardinant. He calls himself a humble old man, and he is a sword instructor at his dojo in a backwater village. One day, he is visited by a former student who has since become a famous figure, and he ends up appointed as a special instructor for the knights of the Liberion Order.

He then meets up with several other former students, who include an elite knight, an ace wizard, and an adventurer who’s attained the highest guild rank possible. He isn’t aware why they asked for him, and he ends up living a new different life. Also check out the new Season 2 visual:

The first season of the From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman anime was directed by Yoshio Kazumi, with Kunihiko Okada in charge of the series composition, Satsuki Hayasaka as the character designer and chief animation director, and Yasuhari Takanashi composing the music. The main voice cast for the anime includes:

  • Hiroaki Hirata as Beryl Gardinant
  • Yuki Hirose as Curuni Cruceiel
  • Hitomi Ueda as Surena Lysandra
  • Nao Toyama as Allucia Citrus
  • Hinaki Yano as Ficelle Harbeller

Shigeru Sagazaki writes the From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman: My Hotshot Disciples Are All Grown Up Now and They Won’t Leave Me Alone (Katainaka no Ossan, Kensei ni Naru: Tada no Inaka no Kenjutsu Shihan Datta noni, Taisei Shita Deshitachi ga Ore o Hottekurenai Ken) light novel series, which features illustrations by Tetsuhiro Nabeshima.

The story originally debuted in November 2020 on the user-generated Shosetsuka ni Naro website. It later caught the attention of Square Enix, who picked it up in April 2021 and began publishing it through their SQEX Novel label. A manga version illustrated by Kazuki Sato has been running in AKITASHOTEN’s Dokodemo Young Champion since August 2021. The light novel has been licensed in English by J-Novel Club, while the manga adaptation is being released by Yen Press.
